In The Thing About Spring, I selected work that I felt matched the exuberance I experienced when entering the studio at NIAD. I was immediately drawn to these works for their playfulness, lightness and brightness. I hope you enjoy.

About the selector

Sophia Cosmadopoulos is the gallery manager at LAND in Brooklyn, NY and the co-founder of SUMMERTIME, a collective showcasing art made by artists with disabilities alongside artists without. Sophia has been a passionate proponent of artists with intellectual disabilities since 2005, working and volunteering at San Francisco’s Creativity Explored and HAI, Pure Vision Arts, AHRC and YAI Arts in New York City. She is also a freelancer writer, focusing on artists working outside of the mainstream.
