Me! Jonathan, selected by Bill Zindel and Liam Golden // ODC Theater

At once introspective and generously welcoming, Jonathan Valdivias's portraits seem to be gazing inward at the same time as they are curiously peering out at us. These qualities reflect the tone of the NIAD studio, which is both a refuge for self-contemplation and a buzzing hive of productive interaction. Jonathan mostly opted out of online art-making during the isolation of pandemic lockdown, which may account for the intensity of his creative output upon returning to the studio.
