Collection: Word Soup, Selected By Kelly Lloyd (online exhibition)

About the exhibition

If this was a two person show, one person would be words and the other person would be food. Words and food. The two most important things… besides family and art of course.

You know that moment when you’re really tired and you forget how to spell. Squir-r-e-l. Is that how it’s spelled? Is that how squirrel is really spelled? It’s a bit odd, isn’t it?

I work in at a reception desk and people tell me their names over and over again. They ask where the bathroom is over and over again. Over and over again to the point where my speech slows and falters. Something breaks, words collide and information I know becomes a question? Ashley… Ashleigh? You’ll find the loo down..the...hall…to...your...left? In these moments the words become as present as the people standing in front of me and just as heavy.
