Collection: Some Things Last a Long Time, Selected By Lisa Kehler (online exhibition)

About the exhibition

With the recent death of Daniel Johnston, I’ve been listening to a lot of his music. In 2016, I was lucky to curate a solo exhibition of his work in Winnipeg. His work, like those of the artists I’ve chosen for this online exhibition dealt with a lot of repetition; repetition of themes, of characters, and of words. For sure, some are serigraphs, or open editions, so of course there’s repetition, but I felt that these artists really felt a strong pull towards revisiting a particular style or image…some ideas last a long time.

Instructions for viewing: It would be rad if while you were viewing the online exhibition, you played a Johnston song.
