Opening Reception for “More Than Enough” NIAD Holiday Shop

We have more than enough power
We have more than enough energy
We have more than enough light.
[…]
We have more than enough joy
We have more than enough stories and courage to heal our worlds.
We have more than enough fire.

– excerpt fromAbundance Poem” written collectively by participants in Already Been Done: an Ancestral Listening Workshop from Black Feminist Film School.

Starting November 9th, the NIAD Holiday Shop will begin filling up with crocheted afghan blankets and scarves, maximalist installations of abstract paintings, ceramic items for the home, hanging “lamps” made from rolled paper, and so much more!

NIAD Studio Artist Rebecca Jantzen will be offering hand-drawn portraits for $30 each! These can make a thoughtful gift for a loved one, or a unique Holiday card to send to family. Bring a photo, bring a friend, there’s more than enough for you here.

The holiday season provides the opportunity to reflect and give thanks for many forms of kinship–our ancestors, our relatives, our chosen families, our communities. Inspired by the collectively-written “Abundance Poem,” NIAD’s exhibition More Than Enough celebrates all the ways that abundance defines the studio culture at NIAD: abundant joy, generosity, care, creativity, community.

Not only does NIAD artwork make a great gift for a loved one (or yourself!), but when you own a piece, you connect with the unique story of an artist with disabilities. Your support honors an original voice in contemporary art, and provides a local artist with income from every sale (artists earn a 50% commission from the sale of their work).

We invite you to visit our galleries to browse this bounty of treasures that will brighten up any space.

Accessibility for the NIAD Holiday Shop

There are no stairs to enter the NIAD building. The building is one level and does not have automatic doors. The sidewalk has curb cut-outs and is wide enough for a wheelchair. Our restrooms are accessible to people using mobility devices. We have a gender neutral restroom and an adult changing station. Mask-wearing is strongly encouraged. Send your access requests to gallery@niadart.org.
