Zine : Five Dollars Fanzine, Taylor Herrera
This project features five artists who have had an impact in their genres and on my life - from their art, to their music, to their stories and who they are as people. The only thing connecting them is five $1 bills, yet they all have newsworthy things happening in their lives at this moment.
While this zine tells the story of five different artists, every part of this zine has a connection to the author's own story. Taylor Herrera works at New Directions Travel For People With Disabilities, Inc. -- a non-profit travel organization that has taken over 18,000 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities on tours around the world since 1985 -- and has accompanied our Marlon Mullen on his travels (including attending the openings for the Whitney Biennial, of which Marlon is a part.)
$5 per zine sold will be set aside and donated for artists with disabilities to use as scholarship money for travel or use as spending money on a New Directions Tour.
The zine, published by But It Or Don't Books, is sewn-bound, measuring 9 x 11" and an edition of 250.
